Local business is the backbone of every city, yet most local listings online are incomplete, unverified, or simply missing. To understand the real shape of the local business web, we analyzed our own dataset of 436 businesses spanning TX (80), NV (56), AZ (49), CA (25), FL (11), GA (5).

The Headline: 89% of Listings Are Unclaimed

Of the 436 businesses in our directory, only 49 are claimed by a verified owner. The remaining 387 (89%) are unclaimed — meaning the business owner has not yet taken control of their own listing.

This is the single biggest gap in local discoverability: the businesses exist, but their owners haven't claimed the free, verified presence that would help customers find them. For context, 95 of the 436 listings carry a verified badge.

Figures are a point-in-time snapshot from the Local City Walk directory (436 businesses with valid listing slugs). "Claimed" means the listing is associated with a verified owner account; "unclaimed" means no owner has taken control. Category labels follow our internal taxonomy. This report is editorial and not sponsored.
